Not updating after promise. Ai!!
My car broke down today. Instead of getting upset and pissed off, I actually got kind of excited because it brought up some deep with my and Kevin's future. We're thinking that if my car repairs are more than I am willing to pay, we'll just sell it, split the $$, share his Subaru wagon (and we just got joint insurance on our bikes and cars), and eventually buy a truck together (a little more useful perhaps). It's little things like this--these little nuances that are coming up that--things that would usually be awkward--they're an exciting talk about our future together. We both couldn't be any happier. Blech, I know. He's the best thing.
Lucas, Forester, Kevin, Jeremy, Ginger and I went on a motorcycle ride up to Crown Point in the Gorge today. It was the most beautiful day out--so beautiful, in fact, that Kevin called in "sick" to work and we got together our crew to ride. Here are some pictures from the ride:
Life has been moving in such an upward, awesome direction, that I hardly have the time to sit down and reflect on everything that is going on. Kevin's at band practice, so here was my chance. Now I have to take Piper on a little walk. Then bonfire with my friends. I love everything.

Disproving the teacher theory
Hopefully, this will not be the case from now on (at least for a little while). On that note, this is my first real attempt to become a better writer or, I suppose, "blogger." I'm also going to be shopping around and adding other people's blogs for inspiration. I need to ritualize this whole writing experience--make it something to look forward to, rather than feel guilty about not updating.
Where to update the blog? I recently bought a stovetop espresso maker and Kevin is going to buy me a pound of Stumptown coffee from work today. That's a start. I'll read blogs like morning newspapers (which are almost basically the same thing now with all the commentary that comes with "un-bias" news sources) while sipping my morning coffee (which is another thing I need to work on--waking up before noon so that it truly can be my "morning" coffee) and having Piper at my feet. While making breakfast, I'll think of the content; maybe I will mentally outline while I pour my grapefruit juice.
Ok, maybe this is too much planning. For now, I will just try to always update on Friday mornings when I should be at work. I need to do it in a better place than where I am at right now. Currently, I am in Kevin's apartment. It's right by the freeway, and I swear, still smells like his ex-girlfriend. Fuck, that totally grosses me out that I just said that. Maybe I mean, her presence just looms rather than smells--a random painting of Gandhi leans in the corner, ready to be thrown out...random furniture sits there, unused and familiar from when I used to live with her years ago. Yes, this space is not conducive to writing with ease.
So, on that note, I will end this with pictures of my Women's Forum class last night. Some of my Somalian students wanted to teach the other students about their culture and lift off any stereotypes that had been put on them. It's not like there's any hostility or anything towards them at school, just lots of wondering and staring. It was a good night. Now, off to have an epic walk with Piper.

I'm 26 and yeah.
So, I'm 26. What the hell happened since the last one? Ah, 25....
25...
I got a dog, finished my first year of teaching, bought a motorcycle, got to participate in my first graduation (I read the names, played the piano and got to see my students graduate), started being a part of Heavy Metal Vomit Party on Kboo, finally got to go to Maryland Deathfest for the first time, broke up with a dude, went on tour for two weeks with some of my best friends' bands, realized that I am crazy in love with a good friend of mine, went to my first funeral of a friend, bought a new computer, saw my best friend and her family for the first time in 3 years, got my Rudimentary Peni tattoo, got my Twin Peaks tattoo...so, I guess I did a few things.
What do I want out of the next year?
I want to work at least one more year at the school I am at, learn how to play drums, the bass, have an Electric Wizard cover band for next Halloween (all girls, called "Ele-chick Wizard"), get more serious about my workout regiment, take a motorcycle trip(s) to the coast, learn to work the soundboard at Kboo, go to Japan and Thailand this summer, get "friend-married" to Lindsay and stay in contact with Claire, Maggie and my family more. Oh, and also update this thing some more.
This bday, I received a HUGE arrangement of flowers from Kevin, Kevin cooked me breakfast, we went on a hike to Horsetail Falls, came back and perused motorcycles on craigslist, went out to Indian food and went to The Know to meet up with my people! It was a good day and night. Couldn't have asked for more.

Dutch dad, sushi, Audobon weekend.
On the way home both nights, we both wondered how my parents will be when they meet him. I know that they will love him, but I just wonder how they will act. Will mom feel comfortable stretching and then falling asleep while watching Japanese television at midnight?
Kevin and I also went to the Audobon Society today to look at the birds and take Piper on a walk. Lucky us! Hazel, a beautiful Northern Spotted Owl was rescued by hikers up at Mt. Hood. Her feathers grow in crooked, so she will never be able to fully fly and survive on her own again...which makes me sad, but happy to know that I can go and see her whenever I want! Her handler happened to be outside, so we got to meet her up close and personal:
We also met Ruby the Turkey vulture (pictured third), Finnegan the falcon and Julio, the other owl that didn't want his picture taken.
Then we went on a small hike before I came to work.
Here are my two sweethearts:
